Title: Marketing Manager

Reports to: Director, Marketing

Summary:

The marketing manager develops, implements, and maintains marketing strategies and activities in direct support of the convention sales and services efforts of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage sales materials and collateral for Convention Services
  • Work with the Director and Convention Services Team to concept and develop tools, resources and materials for convention groups to attract and service delegates
  • Seek out and present new ideas for materials, tools and communication methods and encourage adoption by team
  • Facilitate welcome program materials including posters, banners, maps, calendar of events, Show your Badge, etc.
  • Manage electronic group welcomes, calendar of events feeds and other appropriate files on downtown screens (ADTV, Nationwide, etc.), with John Glenn Columbus International Airport and for Visitor Centers
  • Provide pre-promote campaigns and materials as appropriate
  • Coordinate with event planners or association marketing teams to facilitate collaboration with Experience Columbus’ marketing team in preparation for upcoming conventions or events

 

  1. Support efforts in hosting and marketing ASAE convention, August 10-13, 2019
    • Raise level of excellence overall on services materials to best represent a first-class destination
    • Support and potentially lead specific efforts related to increased level of digital, social and online communications and promotion
    • Assist, as directed, in development of marketing and promotional resources, tools, materials, presentations, collateral, videos, websites, social presence, etc., to ensure a record number of attendees at ASAE 2019 in Columbus
    • Support ASAE convention as needed, in various capacities, during in-market period
    • Assist with execution of marketing communications plan
    • Participate in ASAE planning meetings when appropriate
    • Assure high level of support to services team as needs arise
  1. Support Convention Sales efforts in conjunction with Director, Marketing
  • Update, edit and proof print and electronic marketing materials to support convention sales’ production goals, such as collateral, presentations, bid books and other materials
  • Assist with direct mail programs, as needed
  • Compile content and deploy quarterly e-newsletter
  • Produce and deploy convention sales customer and prospect email invitations within CRM system
  • Support convention sales tradeshow planning and implementation of graphics, collateral, pre- and post-show communications
  • Support LEAD It Home initiatives, potentially including updates to leadithome.com and/or deploying email communications
  1. As allowed by scope of above, also develop and manage materials and collateral for Membership Department
  • Assist in deploying email campaigns, newsletters and communications
  • Strategically assist the membership department with marketing programs to support sales production and retention
  • Manage development or assist in development of membership sales and marketing tools (e.g. invitations, retention materials, member handbook, etc.)
  • Oversee promotional support programs with and for members

Other Responsibilities:

  • Manage the productivity of marketing plans and projects
  • Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results
  • Manage marketing relationships with external partners, including Short North Arts District, Arena District, German Village, and others vital to downtown/convention package development and promotion
  • Hold responsibility for marketing department camera equipment
  • Attend department meetings, planning meetings and retreats
  • Attend Experience Columbus and member functions, as necessary

Education and Experience:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, public relations or related field required 
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in marketing development and management required
  • The organization requires all employees to obtain and maintain their Certified Tourism Ambassador™ (CTA) designation

  • Highly organized, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate effective time management skills
  • Demonstrated writing, editing and verbal communication skills
  • Team oriented with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the Internet
  • Graphic design skills desirable; working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign a plus
  • Demonstrated savviness with digital marketing methods and tools, including paid media, social media and general digital communications
  • Positive attitude and ability to act as a leader within department
  • Ability to conduct himself or herself with professional integrity
  • Passionate about the product (Columbus) and motivated to exceed expectations
