Destination Toledo Convention and Visitors Bureau, a not-for-profit enterprise, is the official Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) for Lucas County and the greater Toledo region. Staffed with an enthusiastic team of Toledo experts, Destination Toledo’s core mission is to attract meeting, convention and tourism business to the Toledo area.

POSITION SUMMARY

Destination Toledo is seeking a full-time Relationship Manager to join our team. This person will report directly to the Vice President, Sales and Relationship Management. We believe successful sales teams are quick to connect while building and creating relationships with customers and each other. The ability to develop effective and long-term relationships with group leaders and key industry partners is paramount to the Relationship Manager position. Some partner examples include - but are not limited to – group travel leaders, key attractions, the hotel association, national and statewide associations, top 1,000 employers in the Toledo Region, and visitors to the region.

The ideal candidates will be outgoing, people oriented and persuasive. Candidates will have the ability to drive sales, from prospecting to closing, and build relationships through account servicing and follow-up. The position requires high energy, an attention to details, and a positive response to pressure. The Relationship Manager is a strategic sales person that serves as an ambassador of tourism for Lucas County and the Toledo Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prospect for new group related business, utilizing our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, internet, telephone contacts, trade shows, referrals, and industry organizations, and maintain existing relationships
- Join membership organizations applicable to target markets. Attend meetings to strengthen existing relationships, network, and prospect new business
- Actively manage the sales process through the CRM system, by entering new leads; tasks, service requests, correspondence, maintenance, and follow ups
- Engage sales contacts through various channels; email, telephone, mail, face-to-face appointments
- Answer Requests for Proposals (RFP), qualify lead, and deliver to partners utilizing the CRM system
- Prepare custom bid packets, and deliver sales presentation to clients when needed
- Deliver first rate customer service, by maintaining contact with the client throughout the entire process; sales, services, event, and follow-up. Ensure their satisfaction, and aim for repeat business
- Know the competition and how to sell against cities competing with the Toledo region
- Develop a strong working knowledge and build great relationships with all hotels, attractions, and services, in our region
- Foster a close working relationship with sales staff at all facilities
- Meet or exceed personal sales goals
- Collaborate with other members of the sales team to achieve departmental sales goals

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Bachelor’s degree
- Thorough working knowledge of PC systems and Microsoft Office suite
- Willingness and availability to travel
- Access to reliable transportation with ability to conduct regular outside sales calls
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License
- Strong Social Intelligence (SI)
- Ability to sell (lead development, execution of sales plans, sales skills)
- Customer service oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
- Public speaking and presenting
- Detail minded
- Knowledge of hospitality industry; hotel, attraction, services, conventions, is a plus
