Fought Named OTA Executive Director

OLA member Heidi M. Fought has been selected to become the next Executive Director of the Ohio Township Association (OTA). Matthew J. DeTemple, the current Executive Director, is set to retire at the end of 2019. DeTemple has served in this role for nine years.

As the current Director of Governmental Affairs at the Ohio Township Association, Fought represents the OTA on all legislative matters and is liaison for OTA-related groups, such as the Coalition of Large Ohio Urban Townships, the Ohio Township Association Law Directors’ Group, and the Ohio Township Administrators Network, amongst other tasks. She has served over 18 years in this position.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with minors in Communications and History, from Muskingum University.

“I am honored that the OTA Board of Directors, with whom I have had the privilege of serving for nearly 20 years, has chosen me as the next executive director,” states Fought. “I look forward to the challenge of leading the Association into 2020 and beyond.”

Fought will be promoted to Assistant Executive Director at the start of 2019, and will take over upon DeTemple’s retirement at the end of the year.

“The OTA Board of Directors conducted a thorough search for this important role,” said DeTemple. “Heidi will do a great job for the OTA.”
