The Star Beacon

The Star Beacon seeks an experienced editor versed in print and digital journalism for our top newsroom position in the newsy region of northeast Ohio. The editor is responsible for news and opinion content for our seven-day newspaper, digital platforms and niche publications. Applicants need a collaborative newsroom management style, passion for local content, strong editing and design skills, and the ability to produce significant enterprise and special reporting projects. We also require proven leadership skills, especially the ability to motivate the staff to excel.

The editor directs a staff of nine journalists and is a key member of the paper’s senior management team, with a strong voice in strategic initiatives to engage audience and drive results. Ashtabula borders Lake Erie and features a historic harbor where the Ashtabula River flows into the lake. It is 60 miles east of Cleveland in a region known for its beaches, parks, wineries and outdoor activities such as boating, camping and fishing. The area is served by the regional Ashtabula County Medical Center hospital and a branch campus of Kent State University.
