Eye on Ohio presents free virtual journalism trainings

Eye on Ohio at the Ohio Center for Journalism is hosting a series of three virtual trainings on different professional journalism topics starting next week. The virtual trainings are:

HOW TO STOP THE SPREAD OF MISINFORMATION & DISINFORMATION
March 23, noon to 3PM

  • Latest techniques for identifying false information
  • Using Google, FB, and Twitter ad databases
  • Free resources that are trustworthy for fact-checking

LEGAL LOGISTICS OF OHIO JOURNALISM
March 31, 9:30AM-12:30PM

  • An overview of state FOI requests
  • How to get a PACER account and track local cases
  • Overview of Ohio’s fast track process

DATA JOURNALISM
April 22, 2-5PM

  • How to automatically pull in data to your computer
  • How to coordinate with other newsrooms
  • Basic functions you can use to find stories
  • How to take a national/regional story and localize it

All of the virtual training sessions are free for staff at ONMA member papers along with other Ohio journalists thanks to the support of the Kiplinger Program at Ohio University. However, registration is required.
