OOA Offers Free Online CME for Scholarly Work

(August 11, 2017) The Ohio Osteopathic Association has released an online video series offering up to 6.5 hours of free AOA  Category 1B continuing medical education credit to help attending physicians, residents and medical students conduct scholarly work.

"It’s important for our profession to develop scholarly work, particularly with the single GME accreditation system upon us," said OOA Past President Robert W. Hostoffer, Jr., DO, who along with his team produced the video series. "Scholar 4, in conjunction with Scholar 7, can help with that—whether it’s for student and resident training, faculty development, or just to learn more about the research process."

Scholar 4 is a series of four videos that provides the style and floorplan for a proper abstract, poster, manuscript and oral presentation. They can be used by students, residents, fellows and attendings at the mid-academic year or whenever they are ready to submit their research.

Last year, the OOA released Scholar 7, also produced by Hostoffer. That series introduces the research process and walks through the steps from hypothesis to IRB submission. Scholar Series has been approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) for free CME. Each series is worth 3.25 hours of category 1-A credit
