Join us for two special legislative events in Northeast Ohio next week!

Next week, OPA will be participating in two major legislative events in Northeast Ohio, and we would like to invite you to join us.

Pharmacy Advocacy: Helping shape the future of the profession

Tuesday, April 22 @ 5:00 pm
Meshel Hall, Northeast Ohio Medical University, 4209 St. Rt. 44, Rootstown, Ohio 44242

Join the Ohio Pharmacists Association and Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) for a special program to discuss pharmacy advocacy and legislation at the state and federal levels.

Our program will begin with a one-hour CE provided by Sara Dugan, R.Ph., PharmD, NEOMED Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice & Associate Professor of Psychiatry. Dr. Dugan will discuss several pharmacy advocacy issues, including pending state legislation that would make major changes to collaborative agreement laws, as well as federal provider status legislation.

We will then be joined by our special guest, Congressman Jim Renacci (R-OH16), who will be giving some remarks about legislation at the federal level. Rep. Renacci is a member of the Congressional Pharmacy Caucus and also is a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, which is the committee hearing the pharmacist provider status bill!

This is a terrific opportunity to get some free CE and to help be a part of major positive changes for our profession. We hope you will consider attending.

Also, after the event, we event you to attend a separate, optional pharmacist fundraiser for Congressman Renacci. As far as federal fundraisers go, it is an affordable way to get some additional one-on-one time with Rep. Renacci. For details on the fundraiser, CLICK HERE!

Eastern Ohio Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting

Thursday, April 24 @ 7:00 pm
McMenamy’s Banquet Center, 325 Youngstown-Warren Rd, Niles, OH 44406

The Eastern Ohio Pharmacists Association is back up and running, and when we say running, we mean sprinting. With hundreds of members and a renewed vigor for involvement and advocacy, this year's EOPA Annual Meeting promises to be a big one.

The event will begin with a one hour law CE by Joseph R. Sabino, MS, R.Ph. titled “The Pill Mill Problem and How to Use OARRS."

Then we will be joined by special guest speaker, Ohio Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni (D-Boardman). Senator Schiavoni will be discussing a few current legislative issues being mulled over in the Senate, including a key piece of legislation that could have a significant impact on community pharmacies.

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by to EOPA85@yahoo.com or by phone (330) 707-9001.

We look forward to seeing you at these two important legislative events!
