Students observe State Board of Pharmacy adjudication and reciprocity hearings. If the legislature is in session, students may observe House and Senate sessions and committee hearings; research, write, and possibly present testimony; and meet with their legislators one-on-one to discuss pharmacy issues. Students may research and write articles for the association publication, the Ohio Pharmacist journal, and assist in its production. Students attend a variety of OPA committee meetings to learn about various issues in pharmacy. Students may be involved in continuing education programming, in meeting planning and staffing, and in general association management tasks. In addition, students may present a program in the community on poison prevention, smoking, etc.
Every day is different at the Ohio Pharmacists Association, and we strive to expose students the "larger picture" of their profession.
For additional information on OPA check out the "OPA Student Rotation" articles included on the Student News page at www.ohiopharmacists.org.
