Parity@10 patient/consumer survey

The OPPA is participating in the Parity at 10 Campaign to distribute a consumer survey to help understand people’s experiences when seeking treatment through insurance coverage. Your responses will help improve access to treatment services.

We are asking that you and other individuals who need or have sought substance use (SUD) and/or mental health (MH) treatment and live in Ohio to complete this survey.  We also encourage parents, families and friends who have sought treatment for themselves or their loved ones for SUD/MH conditions to also complete this survey.

The survey can be accessed here and takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Your responses will help us better understand consumer and family experiences when seeking SUD/MH services through their insurance coverage and what consumers know about the federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act – a federal law that bars discrimination in insurance coverage for these health conditions. The survey results will be used to develop educational materials and strategies to educate consumers and families about accessing care for SUD/MH services and challenging denials of care.

The goal of the Parity at 10 Campaign is to expand access to MH/SUD services through strong enforcement of the Parity Act.  The Ohio Parity at 10 Coalition is working with five national organizations—Legal Action Center, The Center on Addiction, The Kennedy Forum, Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, and Public Health Management Corporation—on this campaign. The national organizations have drafted this survey with local input.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact: Courtney Hunter at Partnership for Drug-Free Kids at courtney_hunter@drugfree.org.
