Salt Life’s new owners are closing all of the company’s retail locations, about half of which are in Florida.
The iconic coastal brand was bought at auction by Iconix International Inc. and Hilco Merchant Resources Inc. this month for a joint bid of $38.74 million after the owner, Duluth, Georgia-based Delta Apparel, Inc., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June, The Jacksonville Daily Record reported.
The company also stopped manufacturing in Honduras in June, blaming a lack of enough funds to continue its operations and “significant reductions in demand,” according to an SEC filing at the time.
