In a letter addressed to all the members of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the organization’s president & CEO, Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE made the following remarks:
This week’s election has released a range of emotions. Some may feel hopeful while others may feel disenchanted. Whatever your feelings, please know that they are valid and respected within the ASAE community. One of our organization’s core values is to be consciously inclusive where members feel valued and supported. We recognize the diversity of perspectives that make our membership unique and strong. In this spirit, let’s approach the days ahead with empathy and understanding, keeping in mind that our differences are a source of inclusion, strength and resilience.
As we look to the future, ASAE is ready to proactively support the incoming administration and Congress in crafting policies that recognize and strengthen the essential contributions associations make to the economy, workforce development and communities across the country.
Before the elections, ASAE engaged both presidential campaigns with letters highlighting the critical role of trade and professional associations in their policy agendas. ASAE also raised concerns about the future of tax policy, especially as key provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act are set to expire in 2025. We’re closely monitoring this landscape, as the tax-exempt sector may face increased scrutiny to offset the cost of new tax legislation. We anticipate this issue will need the united attention of our entire community.
ASAE remains committed to fostering unity and respect within the diverse association sector, regardless of political outcomes. Associations serve as places where people come together with shared purpose, and ASAE is dedicated to supporting our members and association community with excellence, compassion and an unwavering commitment to inclusivity for all.
