Cincinnati City Council Votes to Decriminalize Marijuana Possession
The vote drew mixed responses from the community
The Cincinnati City Council's 5-3 vote decriminalizing up to 100 grams of marijuana Wednesday drew mixed responses from the community.
The ordinance — proposed by Jeff Pastor and Vice Mayor Christopher Smitherman — allows people to freely possess 100 grams (3.53 ounces) with no age limit as long as they're within the city boundaries. It bans marijuana use in public.
The ordinance goes into effect in 30 days.
