Two Dead, Five Others Injured in Today's Latest School Shooting

This incident occurred in Santa Clarita, California

A suspect has been apprehended after a shooting that left one person dead and several other injured at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, prompting a massive police response and the temporary lockdown of two entire school districts Thursday morning.

The incident began around 7:30 a.m. when deputies responded to a report of shots fired on the campus, located at 21900 Centurion Way, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita station said in a series of tweets. The agency characterized the incident as an “active shooter situation."

Several students were injured and transported to local hospitals, where one female victim later died, according to officials. She has not been identified. Two male students are in critical condition at Henry Mayo Hospital, while a fourth patient was hospitalized in good condition.
