Dow Gains 400 Points in Volatile Trading

Wall Street attempts to come back from massive sell-off

Stocks rose on Monday in volatile trading as Wall Street tried to rebound from its worst week since the financial crisis amid fears of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 427 points higher, or 1.7 percent. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite both climbed more than 1 percent.

Stocks briefly came off their highs after a key measure on the U.S. manufacturing showed a slowdown last month. The ISM manufacturing index fell to 50.1 in February, the lowest level since the end of 2019. It also came below an estimate of 50.8.
