Virtual Event Privacy
When attending in-person meetings, people expect that their security will be provided for and that their privacy will be respected. And a major technology association says that those expectations should be met in virtual contexts as well, where risks are higher that private information may be exposed.

The Association for Computing Machinery released a best-practices guide for virtual conferences last month, followed by a principles statement with  recommendations for safer design, deployment, and use of virtual event technologies.

The statement offers suggestions for platform design that aim to keep recordings secure, access focused, and vetting robust. Additionally, ACM says, platforms should offer transparent privacy controls for users, and it discourages the collection of user data.
