COVID-19 Update: 16,169 Newly Confirmed Cases

Week of June 20, 2022

Today, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reported 16,159 new COVID-19 cases and 467 new hospitalizations for the week.

The agency did not report any additional deaths from COVID. ODH indicated this week and last that there would be no additions to the state's COVID-19 death total on June 9, 16 and 23 due to the installation of a new coding system.

The ODH also reported 2,831,159 confirmed cases, 38,857 deaths and 118,851 hospitalizations. The agency also reported 7,353,149 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the vaccine; this figure represents 62.91 percent - a low figure compared to numbers nationwide, which are approximately 83.0 percent of the populace.

On March 14, 2022, the ODH announced it will only report COVID-19 data weekly rather than daily. This is in response to a significant decrease in cases and hospitalizations statewide. It will only be reported on Thursday; thus, OSAP will only report it on Thursdays, too.
