PAMCD

Pennsylvania Association of Multicultural Counseling & Development (PAMCD)

The Pennsylvania Association of Multicultural Counseling & Development (PAMCD) is a division of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association (PCA) for professional counselors with an interest in effective counseling practices for clients with multiple intersecting identities. PAMCD is a division of the American Association of Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD) They also endorse the competencies put forth by AMCD and ACA which support social justice advocacy for clientele, including the Multicultural and Social Justice Counseling Competencies. 

 

The Purpose of PAMCD is:

  • To improve the quality of counseling provided to clientele of varied intersectional identities.
  •  To serve as a communication network, to facilitate the sharing of similar and unique ideas and concerns among members.
  •  To promote a greater understanding of multicultural and social justice topics and interests to the PA counseling profession.
  •  To provide a forum for the purpose of presenting or disseminating social-justice oriented research.
  •  To work in cooperation with other organizations to sponsor social-justice oriented activities related to professional growth and development.

PAMCD Member Benefits:

  • Ability to share pertinent information and network with colleagues committed to social justice and multicultural counseling efforts.
  • Ability to engage in activities (e.g., PAMCD-related conference sessions; service) that promote effective multicultural counseling practices.
