The life-saving goals are high again.
This year, organizers of the annual CPR Blitz aim to instruct 1,000 people in the basics of life-saving techniques Saturdayfeb4. Last year, the event drew 600 people to the Yakima Convention Center.
This year, more than 70 nurses, doctors and other providers have volunteered to help.
"The whole community has really gotten involved with this …," said Yakima's Pete Orgill, a 26-year veteran CPR instructor. "Our goal is just to take away the fear of CPR and the fear of using the AED."
