Executive Director
Jeanne Alford comes to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association after a long and storied career covering public relations, communications, consulting, training, speaking and writing. She directed public relations and communications programs for brands including Dolby, Sony, Philips Electronics and Visa. Her communications campaigns have changed media perceptions, garnered national and international awareness for issues and helped to strongly position executives as industry leaders.
An author, she is a contributor in the best-sellers, Bloom Where You Are Planted and Shine and the Step Forward and Shine. Her writings have appeared in media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Inc. Magazine. In her most recent consulting practice, she focused on working with small businesses to develop results-oriented marketing, speaking to small business and networking groups on the power of clear communications, working with start-up entrepreneurs on developing their unique voice, conducting media training workshops and coaching business leaders.
Alford holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of California – Davis. She has also received the Gold Quill award from the International Association of Business Communicators and is a member of the USTA NorCal Marketing Leadership Council.
Assistant Executive Director
Mr. Richard Brown was founder and senior partner of a prestigious Washington DC based telecommunications law firm which represented major corporations and trade associations before the Congress, Administrative Agencies and the Executive Branch as well as in litigation. Pursuing a dual career, he was also an entrepreneur who founded and was president of the Alaskan Cable Network, operating cable TV systems in Alaska; President of Omega Cellular Brokers involved in M&A, financing, construction and sales of Cellular telephone systems; was variously founder, CEO or Director of numerous communications companies in radio, cellular, wireless cable and satellite programming distribution. As president of American Capital Partners, Inc. he was involved in investments for start up and early stage communications and Internet companies. He was responsible for half billion dollars in brokerage, advisory, capital formation services and investments. He has been active in many non profit associations:

Medical Director
Vincent N. Mosesso, Jr., MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and medical director of prehospital care services for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is a co-founder and Medical Director of the National Center for Early Defibrillation, now called Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association.
He serves on the national Basic Life Support subcommittee and as advanced cardiac life support regional faculty for the American Heart Association.
Dr. Mosesso is assistant medical director of the City of Pittsburgh Emergency Medical Services (EMS), director of the prehospital care rotation of the University of Pittsburgh's Affiliated Residency in Emergency Medicine, and a medical command physician for the Center for Emergency Medicine's EMS/Airmedical/Commercial Airline/World Travel emergency medical consultation and command center.
After graduating from Duquesne University in 1979, he became a paramedic, serving 10 years as a volunteer then working as a full-time medic for four years. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1988, completing his residency in emergency medicine there in 1991 followed by a teaching fellowship at the Emergency Medicine Foundation/American College of Emergency Physicians inDallas.
Dr. Mosesso has focused his research in prehospital care, including the role of police and first responders on the use of AEDs for the treatment of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, prehospital administration of the clot-busting drug Retavase by paramedics, and examining multidisciplinary approaches to emergency care. He was the principal investigator (PI) for the Pittsburgh site of the NIH-funded Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) trial and is currently PI for the Pittsburgh site of the Auto-Pulse Prehospital International Resuscitation Trial which is evaluating a mechanical CPR device.
He has co-authored more than 40 referred scientific manuscripts and textbook chapters related to emergency medicine. His published articles have appeared in the Annals of Emergency Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Emergency Medical Services, Prehospital Emergency Care, Prehospital and Disaster Medicine, and Resuscitation.
Among his professional memberships is the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians where he was named a fellow in 1994. Dr. Mosesso served on the board of the National Association of EMS Physicians and is currently national medical director for the National Association of EMT's Advanced Medical Life Support course.
In 1998, Dr. Mosesso was awarded physician of the year by the Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council. Other honors include the Faculty Appreciation Award by the residents of the University of Pittsburgh in Emergency Medicine; the Jean Hollister Award for Excellence in Prehospital Care, the Ronald Stewart Teaching Awards, American Heart Association Volunteer of the Year, and the Physician Recognition Award by the Emergency Medical Services Institute of Western Pennsylvania.
