Gender in 2023: Inclusive Essentials

                                                  Saturday, February 11, 2023

2:30-4:00 and 5:00-6:30 Eastern Time

Jess Albertine Lemmertz (she/her) presents a two-part dive into gender terms and LGBTQ+ inclusion.

We will focus on LGBTQ+ terminology and gender neutral pronouns: what they are, why they’re important, and how to use them. The first half will cover information on gender terms and how we now have widely used common language to discuss these topics.

We’ll look at how addressing your underlying thought process and understanding of gender automatically leads to an easier basis of communication. In the second half we will practice with a few experiential activities to help you gain fluency using this language about people around you.

We’ll close with plenty of time for questions, so if you’ve ever had a gender/sexuality question you’ve wanted to ask, now is the time.

Some of the information we’ll explore includes:

What do all the abbreviations mean?

What are the differences between biological sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression?

How can English pronouns be gender neutral?

How do we safely refer to the pre-transition past of a transgender person's life?

Join us to expand your view on gender so that you can welcome anyone into your practice in a warm and safe manner. Please feel free bring others along if they are open to learning.
