Obituary for the Rev. Curtis R. Gast

The Rev. Curtis R. Gast, age 80, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Thursday October 25, 2018.

Curt graduated from Sandusky High School in 1956. He attended Ohio University in 1956 for one year and then graduated from Capital University in 1960. He graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1965 and received his doctorate degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1984. Curt served parishes in Delta, Ohio; Bowling Green, Ohio; and Gahanna, Ohio. He also served as University Lutheran Campus Pastor at The Ohio State University from 1974-1989. Curt also taught at Capital University and Ohio Wesleyan University. As a pastor he presided over countless weddings, baptisms, confirmations, and funerals and was well loved by many. Curt loved spending time at their cottage on Kelleys Island. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John and Ernie Gast. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anne Hawley Gast; children, Steve (Patty) Gast, Laura (Dave) Limburg, Lynne (James) King and Beth (Sheldon) Johnston and grandchildren, Eric and John (Tori) Gast, Kai and Elin Limburg and Matthew, Emily and Tommy King.

Family will receive friends on Saturday November 3, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio, 43230; where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3pm.
