Southern Ohio Synod e-bulletin for the Week of January 3, 2018
Stronger and better together:
Joining Jesus in the restoration of the world
Synod News
'Thoughts for the Week' from Bishop Dillahunt start Jan 4!
We are now entering into the 501st year of the Reformation and because the daily Martin Luther quotes were so popular, I thought as we begin 2018 that I would send out a weekly quote which connects us with the vision.
One-day Stewardship Academies coming to a location near you in 2018!
Sponsored by the Southern Ohio Stewardship Team, the Stewardship Academy is an opportunity for congregational leaders (rostered and lay) to "retool" their congregation's stewardship ministry.
'Fishing for People--Evangelism for all the Baptized' workshop, Feb 3 led by Pr. Katie Kerrigan
'Fishing for People' is designed for all baptized members of our congregations, not just the ordained or specially trained. You’ll receive real-world, hands-on training and tips you can take back to your congregation to share, plus meet others from our mission territory who also want to share the Good News in their communities. You’ll walk out of this workshop excited and prepared to ‘fish for people’ and will have made a few new friends in the process.
Attention Treasurers: Important information you need to know regarding submitting mission support and other donations
The following information is provided by our synod accountant, Mrs. Joy Hacker regarding year end closing of synod records, auditor information and a reminder about the remittance forms.
IRS increases standard mileage rate for business mileage in 2018
The Internal Revenue Service issued the 2018 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.
'Countering the Language of Violence' training series from Faith in Public Life
Faith leaders are uniquely equipped to prevent the language of violence from escalating into attacks like we saw in Charlottesville, and we can keep already explosive situations from spiraling out of control. Please join our first training on this crucial issue.
