ELCA shares updates & resources on COVID-19 related benefits

Many of the CARES Act benefits apply to congregations. The Churchwide organization compiled several resources and explanations of the benefits and requirements of our 501(c)3 congregations.

Bishop Dillahunt and our accountant, Joy Hacker, received the following letter from our auditors, Apple Growth Partners, regarding the newly passed CARES Act from the Federal Government. Some of the programs within this act do apply to congregations as 501(c)3 organizations. Please also share the attached 'Employee Rights' flyer that contains information about paid sick leave for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

A note to the synod from Bishop Dillahunt: Cancelation of 2020 Synod Assembly

The Synod Council met last night via conference call to check-in with one another and to discuss the current situation in regards to the pandemic. As part of that discussion, it was agreed that it would be best to not gather for a 2020 Synod Assembly.
