A note from Bishop Dillahunt: Update regarding Synod Staff travel

Dear Southern Ohio Rostered Ministers, Lay Leaders, Members and Friends;

Grace and peace be with you in the name of Jesus Christ.

I did not expect to have to change course so quickly from my last note to you. As you are very aware, COVID case numbers are exploding in Ohio and in the Synod. Over these past 9 months we have had to be flexible as we adjusted to virtual and in person worship…back and forth…sometimes making decisions in hours or a few days. We are resilient people of God, trusting that our decisions are made on the best information we have at the time.  Unfortunately, we have more cases, hospitalizations, critically ill patients and deaths.  This is the reality. We are tired of the virus, but it’s not stopping.

In order to keep everyone safe, I have made the difficult decision to suspend all staff travel immediately, except for ordinations and ordination like services through at least January 5, 2021. For those services we have strict protocols in place.  Meetings will continue via Zoom, so we can continue to do the good work set forth for us.

If we can be part of a worship service virtually, in any way, shape or form, we will be. Otherwise, we will reschedule for later next year.

Please do not “pop” by the new office without calling first. (Our new phone number is 1.614.714.3157.) We are taking every precaution to keep those in the office safe.  Most of the staff work from home as part of our safety precautions.

Thank you for your understanding, prayers and flexibility. As we move into winter, I will keep you posted as to our travel plans and how we can be together.  As I said before we really do miss seeing you in person.  Stay masked, stay safe, stay healthy.

Keeping you in thoughts and prayers,

Bishop Suzanne Darcy Dillahunt
