Wittenberg U to Host Kenneth H. Sauer Lutheran Symposium & Festival Choral Eucharist--Mark Your Calendars!

Wittenberg University invites you to attend the Kenneth H. Sauer Luther Symposium at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 14, in Bayley Auditorium of the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center at Wittenberg University

You are also invited you to our Festival Choral Eucharist for Reformation at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, in Weaver Chapel here at the University.

On Monday, November 14, the Symposium features an address by Dr. Christine Helmer. Dr. Helmer is Professor of Religion at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Her topic is “From Gospel to Enlightenment: Reason, Experience and the ‘New’ Luther.” The author and editor of several books and numerous articles on the theology of Luther and the works of various modern theologians, she is a speaker at conferences in both the U.S. and Europe. Opportunity for questions from the audience will follow the lecture. It should be a time for challenging ideas, lively discussion and good fellowship.

On Sunday, October 30, we will hold the Festival Choral Eucharist for Reformation, in Weaver Chapel, with special music by the Wittenberg Choir, the Wittenberg Handbell Choir and the Wittenberg Singers. Pre-service music begins at 7 p.m., and the service itself begins at 7:30 p.m. The preacher is the Rev. William Gafkjen, Bishop of the Indiana-Kentucky Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
