Miracle on Main Street--Ministering to the Mentally Ill
Saturday, June 9, 3-4 pm
Presenters: Pr. Dona Johnson and the SOS Mental Illness Task Force
Miracle on Main Street highlights our work with The Castle, a day drop-in program for the mentally ill. We will explore ways in which our faith communities can: 1) raise awareness of mental illness, 2) break down the barriers of stereotyping, myths and discrimination, and 3) organize their own community faith-based initiative.

Welcoming the Stranger

Help your church family open its hearts to people, especially those often marginalized by society. This resource will help you identify barriers to welcoming strangers and develop a deeper understanding of the meaning of hospitality. A program of the Women of the ELCA.
Robin Kaelin, Administrative Asst, lay member of Zion Lutheran, current Vice President of the Southern Ohio Women’s board, past LYO Advisor, Secretary of Synod Women, and fellow pilgrim was first trained in this at the Women of the ELCA National Gathering in Philadelphia. Several members of our Southern Ohio board have also been trained and as women in our congregations we want to begin to explore ways we can open ourselves to “Welcome the Stranger.”
How to Make Use of Extra Space in an Urban Setting! Includes tour of Roselawn Lutheran Church’s Dental Clinic, Eye Clinic, Computer Lab and Food Pantry
Saturday, June 9, 1-3 pm
Presenters: Barbara Kley and Roselawn Lutheran Church staff and members
Workshop will consist of a tour of our clinics, food pantry and computer lab. We will share how we got the clinics and how they are used, and answer any questions.
Presenters will be church staff and members.
Lunch will be provided.
