With over 20 years of CEMS related experience Eric has performed numerous CEMS program audits nationwide. Frequently the CEMS program audits have yielded similar findings. Often times the CEMS program audit findings are related to lack of knowledge of applicable CEMS quality assurance and quality control regulatory requirements and lack of training on those requirements to personnel who are actually working on the CEMS. Communication between the environmental departments and the CEMS maintenance departments is essential to a successful CEMS program. These lines of communication are many times found to be non-existent or insufficient. The maintenance personnel do not know specific applicable regulatory requirements and the environmental department doesn’t know what practices and procedures are in place to ensure compliance. Establishing proper lines of communication and training helps ensure both parties are aware of applicable regulatory requirements and how to implement procedures.
