► Set Next Contact Number

contact

When creating a Contact record, the system automatically finds the next available Contact Number. But you are able to override this number, assigning a different one, as long as it is not in use by another Contact within your database.

Some organizations enter a specific number into this field, like the national member number or a state license number.  Once this number is entered, the system always tries to find the next available number based upon the highest Contact Number in the database.  This can result in large gaps in numbers and other potential numbering conflicts.

To respond to this issue, we've added a new Administrator Setting that allows you to specify where the system should start looking for new Contact Numbers.  Once this is set, the system always starts at this number and finds the next available number.

To establish this setting, go to the Main Menu, then 'Admin Settings,'  then 'Advanced'.  Under the setting 'Contact Numbering Start Point' enter the starting search number.  Click 'Save' to save the setting.

That's it!
