USAEE Webinar: Power System Demand and COVID-19

Times Is Rough and Tough Like Leather: Power Demand and Financial Stability in a Rural Utility During COVID-19

October 6, 2021   11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

We all know how COVID-19 posed massive business challenges across the global economy – but it’s less understood what the stakes were for public service entities. In this webinar, we quantify the impact of COVID-19 on electric demand in the MISO footprint, and what that has meant to a group of small municipal utilities in Minnesota.  We also discuss the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on the financial stability of our municipal utilities. In a world full of Black Swans, the intent is for all involved with public sector utilities to have realistic guidance on how to do scenario analysis and financial stress tests.
