Journalist Sarah DiGregorio uses Taking Care to explore the complex story of nursing, which is woven into war, plague, religion, the economy, and our individual lives. While nurses were celebrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, the profession is often undermined and undervalued in ways that reflect deep-seated misogyny and racism, negatively impacting their working conditions and the quality of care available to the public.
