Join AFOS Member, Dr. Ryan Manning, as he presents a 1-hour COPE course titled, "Astigmatism in American Indian and Alaskan Native Children in an Urban Setting".
Dr. Manning will to present the prevalence of high astigmatism in Native American Children in the Southwest and best practice screening methods.

After graduating from Southern College of Optometry he joined the US Navy, serving in San Diego, CA. There he was able to specialize in medically necessary contact lenses and low vision. He worked with refractive surgery center and assisted in research into LASIK, PRK and Intacs. After transferring to the US Public Health Service he accepted an assignment at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center with the Indian Health Service. He obtained a Masters of Public Health from Salus University in their inaugural class. As part of his desire to assist Native American youth, he recently was awarded the national IHS Directors Award for his work with the Sherman Indian boarding school.
