N.H. Community Bank Opening Makes Pages of Economist

The official opening of Primary Bank in Bedford, N.H., was featured in an Economist article on the problems of bank consolidation and the decline in de novo applications. The article notes that Primary Bank launched in response to consolidation and is the first new bank since the Bank of Bird-in-Hand, Pa., opened in 2013.

The Economist writes that heightened regulatory scrutiny and low interest rates have resulted in a troubling dearth of bank startups, which is bad news for small businesses and local communities. Read the Article.
