ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION

Hamilton County Public Health is accepting applications for a Public Information Officer vacancy in Administration. The successful candidate will have excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication / presentation skills. Requirements include: Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, journalism, or closely related field with a minimum one (1) year related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience which evidences an advanced knowledge of public relations, basic knowledge of government structure and process and demonstrable persuasive writing, organizational, and presentation skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

Plans, coordinates and directs public relations programs and activities for Agency.
Supervises assigned communications and equity staff.
Speaks and presents on behalf of the Agency at various public events and meetings.
Attends Board meetings and other public events representing the district.
Serves as the liaison with media contacts and responds to media inquiries.
Creates various communications to increase public awareness of current public health issues.
Prepares and disseminates press releases.
Writes, advises on and edits internal publications and communications.
Serves as Agency liaison with other agencies and organizations.
Oversees implementation of social media projects.
