Work Schedule: Office Hours are Monday – Friday 8:00AM- 4:30PM. Hours may vary. May require some weekend and evening work.
Salary Range: $23.00-28.00 per hour.

Job Description:
- Plan, develop and implement community health education activities. Develop and present community health education programs throughout the health district and community. Create educational materials.
- Plan, develop and implement Health District programs in partnership with associated divisions.
- Attend Portage County Health District and community events and meetings. Attend various continuing education meetings, seminars, and workshops.
- Support public information activities for the agency under the public information officer, including print, website, and social media. Responsible for maintaining inventory of health education materials, kits, and other associated items.
- Plan, develop and implement grant associated programs. Research new grant opportunities. Write and assess grants, manage grants, conduct financial and programmatic tracking and reporting, communicate with funding sources, complete documentation, and oversee/monitor all related projects/activities. Research new funding opportunities; submit proposals; collect and analyze local, state, and national data; and obtain other supporting documentation as needed.
- Develop promotional materials and messages for projects, events, and campaigns.
- Serve as a resource to the community and other organizations/agencies. Creates resources to improve health literacy and health awareness.
- Answer public health-related inquiries. Collaborates with local partners and Portage County residents.
- Provides support for accreditation activities.
- Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance.
- Operates a motor vehicle as needed to perform the essential functions.

Organizational Duties:
- Participate in quality improvement team projects and quality improvement training initiatives as applicable/ required and incorporate the principles of quality improvement into daily work activities.
- Participates in public health emergency activities as needed.
- Incident Command System/National Incident Management System training.
- Attend and participates in agency training, events, and activities.
- Gathers and organizes documents to satisfy public records requests or other reporting obligations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, health promotion or related field required.
- CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) preferred.
- Prior experience in public health preferred.
- Grant writing experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the typical work environment will consist of substantial fieldwork as well as an office setting. The various work sites could include uneven terrain, potential exposure to inclement weather, extreme temperatures, insects, wildlife, unpleasant smells or odors and other elements of outdoor work. The general office setting in the Health District facility requires sedentary to light work which may include sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, standing, talking, and listening with occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
