Position: Peer Support Team Lead
Assignment Location: 635 N. Erie St. Toledo, OH
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered/Licensed Dietitian or Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Possession of an IBCLC License or ability to achieve an IBCLC license issued by the International Board-Certified Lactation Examiners within 6 months of employment.
- 4 years of health professional experience.
- Supervisory, team lead, or related experience preferred.
- Completes continuing education in accordance with their license requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be insurable under the Lucas County Commissioners Risk Management.
Responsibilities:
- Assists WIC participants with establishing breastfeeding and meeting goals (direct pt care).
- Assists with maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and developing employees; helps perform personnel functions such as preparing performance appraisals, approving leave and monitoring leave usage; meets program goals by coaching, counseling, and assisting with corrective action; addresses employee problems.
- Helps complete payroll and financial components including approving time, assisting with cost analysis, acting as a travel delegate, and applying for and administering grants.
- Coordinates breastfeeding promotion and support services within the WIC project and local community.
- Ensures staff knowledge of breastfeeding counseling requirements.
- Mentors staff to enhance their basic breastfeeding knowledge.
- Plans and delivers trainings for local staff, agency staff, and other community members as applicable.
- Networks with community agencies and organizations to promote breastfeeding as the accepted community norm.
- Consults and collaborates with other members of the client’s health care team.
- Maintains a resource list of breastfeeding support services and makes referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinates the breastfeeding peer helper program.
- Trains and manages all breastfeeding Peer Helper staff according to WIC Policy.
- Responds to all Breastfeeding-related correspondence between the local project and ODH, including but not limited to pump surveys, pump ordering, pump receipt, and storage.
- Maintains current knowledge of all breast pumps which are distributed by WIC.
- Maintains accurate pump inventory, issuance logs, and tracking forms for the local project.
- Analyzes and shares local project breastfeeding data.
- Completes all required monthly, quarterly, and annual program reporting.
- Shares knowledge obtained from continuing education programs.
- Adheres to PHAB and Quad Core Council core competencies including, but not limited to: PHAB T2: 2.2.6, 3.4.2, 4.6.1, 6.3.6, 7.2.2, 7.4.4, & QUAD 2B8 and 8B13.
- Participates in quality improvement efforts and achieving PHAB accreditation requirements. This position will be responsible for using quality improvement (QI) processes and/or techniques to improve the effectiveness of the assigned public health program.
- Attends and participates in conferences, seminars, trainings, or related education classes as assigned.
