Environmental Health Aide - Mosquito/Vector Control

Position: Hiring up to 2 - Environmental Health Aide, Mosquito/Vector Program, (Intermittent)
Pay Grade: 11
Salary: $18.05
Shift Times: Hours vary based on the needs of Richland Public Health (RPH). May work early mornings, days, evening during the Spring and Summer months.
General Statement of Duties:
Assists in the efficient operation of Richland Public Health’s Environmental Health Division. Responsible for performing mosquito vector control activities (i.e. surveillance, larviciding, mosquito spraying) and routine equipment maintenance tasks. Performs other tasks as assigned.
Required education, experience, training:
- High School graduate or equivalent required, college students from science background preferred.
- Skill and ability to communicate effectively; plan, schedule, and organize work; prepare accurate and complete reports; classify and organize records; maintain confidentiality; perform all job duties.
- Collect, sort and maintain records on mosquito collections for data input.
- Ability to demonstrate physical fitness and agility, lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to drive a full-size truck.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to count, calculate and perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Reasoning Ability: Develop logical conclusions from facts and circumstances; apply common sense to carry out written instructions; ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standard situations.
- Knowledge of all safety practices (i.e., handling of hazardous materials, proper lifting techniques, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
- Must maintain valid Ohio Driver’s license and provide proof of current vehicle insurance.
- Represent the health department in a professional manner when dealing with community members.
- Must attend Bloodborne Pathogen Training and complete Emergency Preparedness training within first sixty-days (60) of employment.
- Must obtain the Commercial Pesticide Applicators License from the Ohio Department of Agriculture within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
