Salary range: $25.00-$40.00, based on experience

Position Summary: The Director of Environmental Health leads all environmental health programs to protect and improve community well-being. This role ensures compliance with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards, integrates the 10 Essential Public Health Services, oversees grant-funded projects, and develops community health programming that addresses public health and environmental health priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct environmental health programs (food safety, water quality, vector control, housing, waste management, air quality).
Lead program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement to meet PHAB accreditation standards.
Manage grants: identify opportunities, write proposals, oversee budgets, and ensure compliance.
Develop and implement community-based programs that advance environmental and public health goals.
Analyze data to identify health risks, trends, and disparities; adjust strategies accordingly.
Build and maintain partnerships with community groups, local government, and other stakeholders.
Represent the agency in public forums with professionalism, clarity, and cultural sensitivity.
Supervise, mentor, and develop environmental health staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must meet the eligibility and licensure requirements as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with at least 3 years’ experience in leadership.
Must demonstrate experience with PHAB accreditation, grant management, and community health programming.
ICS/NIMS training and emergency response experience preferred.
