POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Clinical Services Assistant (CSA) supports effective and efficient operations of the Special
Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). This role is essential to
providing a positive customer experience, as the CSA is often the first person to interact with the
public face-to-face and by phone. The CSA oversees a variety of important clerical tasks including
answering phones, greeting participants, assisting with paperwork, keeping accurate documentation
and running reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Greets visitors and checks participants in for appointments
• Answers telephones and responds to inquiries by phone, text message, email and/or fax
• Schedules appointments for WIC participants, completes appointment reminders and assists in
maintaining the master participant schedule
• Screens participant applications for income, residency, category, physical presence and identity
requirements
• Completes anthropometric measurements of participants including height/length, weight and
hematological testing
• Files records and maintains participant charts
• Runs data reports and provides necessary information for grant reporting, Board of Health reports
and annual agency reports
• Participates in community outreach activities, meetings and on committees on behalf of the Wood
County Health Department
• Assists health professionals with clerical and clinical procedures
• Functions as part of the breastfeeding support team
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Ohio driver's license. Must be maintained throughout employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working in a medical office or clerical role preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking abilities and attention to detail, as well as
the ability to work independently, multitask and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of public health laws, regulations and standards as defined by federal, state and
local governments
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
• Proof of automobile insurance
• Ability to drive to off-site locations, as required
• Ability to successfully pass a background check
