Help local families build healthier futures! Richland Public Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian or Dietary Technician to join our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) team. This is an opportunity to use your nutrition expertise in a meaningful public-health role—supporting pregnant women, new parents, infants, and young children throughout Richland and Ashland Counties.
You will provide practical nutrition education and individualized support that can have a lifelong effect on the health of local families. Schedule: 20-29 hours per week
Primary location: Richland Public Health, Mansfield, Ohio
Ashland schedule:
One regularly scheduled day each week at the Ashland County WIC office The position follows a primarily weekday schedule, including one later clinic day.
Occasional evening or Saturday clinics may be required for special programs or events.
As a member of the WIC team, you will:
- Assess participants’ nutritional needs.
- Provide individual and group nutrition education.
- Help families establish realistic, healthy habits.
- Certify eligible participants for WIC services according to state and federal requirements.
- Develop individualized nutrition plans and document services provided to participants.
- Complete measurements and hemoglobin screenings according to WIC guidelines.
- Prescribe approved WIC food packages.
- Develop nutrition education programs, materials, and evaluation tools.
- Serve as a nutrition resource for RPH staff, community partners, and other health professionals.
- Provide community education on nutrition-related topics.
Qualified applicants must hold one of the following credentials:
Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist through the Commission on Dietetic Registration and appropriate Ohio licensure; or Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Applicants must also have:
- Knowledge of dietetics and nutrition.
- The ability to use effective, supportive counseling techniques.
- Strong communication and public-relations skills.
- The ability to learn WIC software and follow federal and state WIC requirements.
- A valid Ohio driver’s license.
- Current and sufficient vehicle insurance. - Previous WIC or public-health experience is welcome but is not required.
We will provide training on WIC policies, procedures, and software.
