Description: Lorain County Public Health is seeking to hire a full time Sanitarian-in-Training/Registered Sanitarian in the Environmental Health, Emergency Preparedness & Epidemiology Division. Requirements: Possession of a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health or related field. Must possess an Ohio certificate of registration as a Sanitarian-in Training or a Registered Sanitarian. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
FUNCTION: Under general direction of the Director of Environmental Health, the Sanitarian-in-Training/Registered Sanitarian will work in the community to prevent disease through working in Environmental Health Programs. Occasional weekend or evening work will be required.

Knowledge of: environmental health programs; public health standards as defined by federal, state, and local regulations; importance of agency policies, practices, and procedures; risk communication; safety practices and procedures.
Ability to: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; maintain accurate records; communicate effectively in written or oral form; prepare concise and accurate reports, handle sensitive inquiries from officials and the general public, attend work on time, and dress appropriately.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May encounter unsanitary working conditions; requires travel.
