The Ottawa County Health Department is seeking qualified candidates for a Health Commissioner. A successful candidate must meet qualifications per Ohio Revised Code 3709.11. The applicant must be either a licensed physician, licensed dentist, licensed veterinarian, licensed podiatrist, licensed chiropractor, or the holder of a master’s degree in public health or an equivalent master’s degree in a related health field, as determined by the members of the board of health. The successful candidate shall also possess a minimum of five (5) years recent experience in senior management in a health district. Candidates shall have experience including policy development, program planning, public speaking, accreditation, quality improvement, strategic planning, assessment, community/collaborative partner relations, public health sciences, local health department budgeting, leadership, and diplomacy. A valid Ohio driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and successful completion of both a BCI background check and an FBI background check are required.
