Epidemiologist
Williams County Health Department
The Williams County Health Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Epidemiologist.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30-5:00. This position is full time at 37.5 hours per week.

Essential Functions of the Position:
- Analyze primary data for purposes of program evaluation and reporting; analyze data to identify quality gaps and population health needs.
- Generate reports of findings for funders, partners and the public; present the data in a compelling way that highlights the opportunities at hand, whether in making comparison to benchmarks, pointing out anomalies, displaying trends over time, or using other creative analytical tools. Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate data to community members with varying levels of health literacy.
- Assist in design and monitoring of project evaluation plans; development and assessment of survey instruments for primary data collection; statistical techniques to measure impact of various actions/studies; internal and external development sampling and hypothesis testing to determine outcomes; and forecast and predict future behaviors and events.
- Conduct literature searches for background information on the latest science, consensus statements, and clinical evidence; research the effectiveness and use of model and/ or tolls that can reliably predict, identify, or segment high risk, high-utilization practices, patients, and populations.
- Provide subject matter expertise on data integrity and integration, engage in ongoing development of mechanisms for continuous quality improvement, and monitor progress throughout the organization.
- Develop new queries using various query tools to extract data from existing databases and to integrate that data with data from other sources; refines existing queries or algorithms to support agency goals.
Minimum Experience/Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must have a Master’s degree in public health or epidemiology from an accredited college
- CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist) and prior experience in public health preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance
- Must have computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, design, presentation software, epidemiologic and statistics software, and geographic information data systems
- Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal relationship, & verbal and written communication skills
