POSITION:

Public Health Nutritionist – Full Time, (35 Hours) WIC Program

Registered Dietitian (PHN 1 or 2) or Registered Dietetic Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Determines the medical/nutritional eligibility of WIC participants based on data obtained from clients (e.g., height, weight, hematocrit value, and diet history).  Determines the nutritional needs of participants based on data obtained from the patient chart and through patient interview; documents additional need.  Assures that all participants receive the information outlined in the WIC program regulations.  Counsels participants regarding their nutritional needs as often as is deemed necessary, establishing specific behavioral objectives; documents nutritional counseling provided.  Refers participants to other health and social services. Prescribes the types and amounts of foods to be issued based on assessment of nutritional needs and WIC guidelines.  Assists with development of nutrition education program for WIC, with WIC staff and WIC Director. Provides Breastfeeding support; Implements nutrition education program according to Federal, State and Local guidelines. Accurately completes all participants' charts as required for the files; maintains necessary logs and files.  May be responsible for one component of the WIC program such as nutrition education, breastfeeding, nutrition education displays, outreach or other programs.  Develops and implements an ongoing nutrition education plan for appropriate individual and group nutrition education sessions.  Assures that all participants receive the information detailed in the WIC program regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Registered Dietitian, Licensed in the State of Ohio is preferred.  Must possess valid Ohio Driver License.

Dietetic Technician, Registered, MS or BS in Nutrition Science, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health Nutrition, Registered Nurse, or Physician's Assistant may also be considered.

The Public Health Nutritionist or Dietician position requires; Work a general schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., although a flexible schedule may be required, including evenings and weekends.

COMPENSATION: 

Registered Dietetic Technician- $16.14-$21.71 per hour, based on experience.

Public Health Nutritionist 1- $20.18-$27.13 per hour, based on experience.

Public Health Nutritionist 2 - $22.19-$29.85 per hour, based on experience.
