POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intermittent Pharmacy Delivery courier is responsible for the timely, safe, and accurate transport of prescription medications to designated delivery locations, including patient residences and healthcare facilities. This position ensures that all deliveries are completed in compliance with applicable regulations, security protocols, and company standards for medication handling. The courier is also accountable for maintaining proper storage conditions during transport to preserve medication integrity, providing courteous service to patients and partners, and assisting with related pharmacy logistics as needed to support efficient and compliant delivery operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Safely transport prescription medications from the pharmacy to assigned delivery locations, including, but not limited to, patient homes, healthcare facilities, designated delivery locations, and work places.
• Verify delivery accuracy by matching patient information, addresses, and prescription details.
• Maintain appropriate temperature control and storage conditions during transport to ensure medication integrity.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and contact the appropriate resources for guidance as needed.
• Obtain required delivery signatures and documentation in accordance with pharmacy and regulatory policies.
• Adhere to all HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
• Handle all medications with care and follow procedures for controlled substances, if applicable.
• Maintain delivery vehicle cleanliness, organization, and readiness for transport.
• Maintain safe vehicle conditions and protects vehicle by complying with organization policy and procedures, as well as traffic/motor vehicle rules, laws, and regulations.
• Conserves resources by efficiently using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
• Communicate promptly with pharmacy staff and clients regarding delivery issues, delays, discrepancies, and any other issues.
• Report any incidents, vehicle concerns, or temperature excursions immediately to the pharmacy supervisor.
• Assist with basic pharmacy support tasks as assigned.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class D Ohio Driver’s license and clear driving history. Must be maintained throughout employment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, and work independently. Strong organization skills, analytical thinking abilities, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide proof of automobile insurance
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.
• Ability to be on the road for extended periods of time.
• Ability to operate a vehicle in inclement conditions.
• Ability to work alternate hours, if needed.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds as needed.
• Ability to follow all OSHA Guidelines and HIPAA Regulations.
• Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and/or walk.
• Ability to grasp with manual dexterity.
• Ability to manipulate a keyboard, smartphone, tablet, and other technology.


Final candidates must successfully pass a background check and provide proof of a valid State of Ohio driver’s license as well as current automobile insurance.
An individual who poses a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace will be deemed not qualified for this position.
