Health Commissioner

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Health Commissioner is responsible for overall management and operation of the General Health District by supervising staff and performing highly technical, specialized financial and management analysis for the purpose of providing public health programming to Seneca County.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A successful candidate must meet qualifications per Ohio Revised Code 3709.11. The applicant must be the holder of a master’s degree in public health or an equivalent master’s degree in a related health field as determined by the members of the board of health, a licensed physician, licensed dentist, licensed veterinarian, licensed podiatrist, or a licensed chiropractor.

A successful candidate must have at least five (5) years’ experience in the public health or related field as determined by members of the board of health, two (2) years’ experience supervising the work of others, knowledge of local, state, and federal public health laws, rules, regulations and standards, excellent communication skills, the ability to conduct systems level evaluation and practice, and the expertise to maintain the district’s strong community presence.

Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license, proof of current auto insurance, and successfully complete background check at own expense prior to employment through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation as per Ohio S.B. 38.
