ASCH educational and training programming includes a wide variety of offerings for health care professionals interested in becoming familiar and proficient with the range of clinical hypnosis knowledge and skills. ASCH educational and training offerings range from Level 1 Workshops for those health care professionals wishing to become familiar, comfortable, and competent with a foundational understanding of concepts and applied clinical skills, through the advanced knowledge, skills, and applications of Level 2 workshops, to highly specialized training in specific applied areas included in Advanced workshops. This series of training experiences provide foundational support for other ASCH educational and training programs including a twenty hours Individualized Consultation (IC) in individual or workshop format, and a ten-hour TCW Workshop.
(Please see the Certification section on the ASCH website for other program descriptions and requirements for the attainment of various levels of certification.)
TCW is a ten-hour workshop designed for those individuals who have attained ASCH Certification (including completion of Level 1 and Level 2 ASCH-sponsored or ASCH-approved workshops and completion of twenty hours of Individualized Consultation (IC) (individual or workshop format). Completion of TCW is required, along with other education and training programs and certification noted above, and continued use of clinical hypnosis in professional practice, in order to apply for and attain ASCH Approved Consultant status. Faculty members for TCW workshops are highly accomplished exceedingly well-trained and experienced clinicians, and respected educators and trainers.
The TCW includes an introduction that addresses professional continuing education standards, workshop learning objectives, and encouragement of active participant engagement throughout the workshop. Major topic areas of training include facilitation of learning environments, principles, and characteristics of adult learning (andragogy), development of experience-level didactic presentations, including quantifiable learning objectives, organization of clinical hypnosis training workshops and small group practice sessions, careful selection of faculty, and management of unusual training and consultation situations. Additionally, a review of ASCH Standards of Training, especially Levels 1 and Level 2 workshop training, including optimization of workshop participant and/or patient safety with respect to appropriate re-alerting and re-orienting, is emphasized. Finally, there is a review of learning contract responsibilities, case consultation, providing useful and meaningful feedback to those with whom one is consulting, the use and documentation of adjunct consultants, and ethical considerations.
