Event Title: Harmonizing EMDR Therapy and Clinical Hypnosis – Building Blocks for Working with Complex Developmental Trauma
Dates: 5/4/24
Location: Virtual
CE: 12
Abstract:
Both clinical hypnosis and EMDR therapy share overlapping methods, which, when carefully blended, can provide a vast array of tools to enhance clinical outcomes, particularly when working with complex trauma and dissociation. This training will explore various methods and procedures useful for all clients which also serve as building blocks for working with these complex cases. Areas addressed include resourcing/ego strengthening, working with intra-psychic defenses and dissociative phobias, titration methods for processing particularly traumatic memories, as well as strategies for attachment repair. Video examples and guided practicum experiences will be offered to assist participants' integration of the material presented.
This workshop presumes participants will have basic or beyond training in clinical hypnosis. No prior EMDR training is required.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify two points of overlap in the clinical application of EMDR therapy and clinical hypnosis.
2. Explain the role of inner phobias in maintaining structural dissociation.
3. Utilize two methods for resourcing/ego strengthening.
4. Describe two titration strategies when processing particularly disturbing memories.
