Central Ohio Chapter CAI - Summer Newsletter

Greetings, my fellow CAI members and friends!

It is with great pleasure that I serve as your 2019 CAI President. As we reach mid year, I am happy to say that this year has had a great beginning, and plans for the second half of the year are expected to be just as fulfilling.

For the first time, the chapter has a Gold Sponsor, Mammoth Restoration. This sponsorship is a true statement of support for the chapter.

The new format for the "Top Golf" outing was received by attendees and business partner sponsors with nothing but compliments. Thank you to those of you that were there to support the chapter. The committee is ready to start planning for the 2020 outing, and they invite you all to join them to make the event just as great next year.

The luncheon speakers have been phenomenal, and are all thanks to the work of the Programs Committee. Half of the speakers at the May meeting we recently featured in Columbus CEO magazine and Business First newspaper, and the speaker at the March meeting gave great information for improving how we conduct board meetings.

On July 12th, please join us at Pins Mechanical at Bridge Park. This social event was scheduled at the request of the members who said it would be nice to have an event where everyone can simply be social. The event is free to attend and will include a surprise by the Bridge Park developer, Crawford Hoying.

The fun and fulfilling Trade Fair is on August 23rd at the Renaissance Hotel on Polaris Parkway. This event is a member favorite, with opportunities to meet new business partners to help your operations, delicious breakfast and lunch, a comedian, happy hour cocktails, and opportunities to win prizes from the 50+ raffle drawings.

CAI is here to support you and your success as an association manager, a board member leader, and a business partner. Please let us know how we can best support you.

Yours in community,

Arnold A. Barzak III, PMSD, CMCA, AMS, PCAM

2019 Rising Star Award

Ohio attorney Jeffrey Kaman was presented with this year’s CAI Rising Star Award, which honors an individual whose leadership abilities and professional contributions forecast even greater accomplishments in the future. Kaman—who recently became a fellow in the College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL)—led a task force to compile cases related to community association law. He oversaw the sorting, analyzing, and summarizing of the cases in preparation for the materials to be presented at the annual Community Association Law Seminar. In addition to his work with CCAL and his involvement in the Law Seminar, Kaman served as the 2018 president of the CAI Central Ohio Chapter, where he spearheaded efforts to bring CAI chapter leaders throughout the state together to discuss best practices and share ideas.
