Dear CSCA Colleagues,
During a conversation with other regional presidents at NCA, I learned about efforts that some of the other organizations in our discipline have made to preserve their respective rich histories. Although we do have a modest archive, I believe that it could be enriched through the addition of oral histories from our members. In years to come, in particular, it would be wonderful for future members to be able to hear the voices of ones from 2010... to learn about and celebrate rich traditions, funny anecdotes, special stories, and treasured friendships within CSCA.
I invite you to share your own memories with others by taking just a few moments of your time at the upcoming conference in Cincinnati to record an interview about your experiences with CSCA. This conversation will require no more than 30 minutes of your time, and it will only be used as part of our CSCA archives. I truly believe that these oral histories will enable current and future generations of CSCA members to attain a much stronger understanding of how our association has developed and what it has meant to individuals in our discipline. What a terrific gift!!
We will be conducting oral history interviews on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of the conference-April 15, 16, and 17, 2010. To schedule a time during the conference that will be convenient for you, please e-mail me at Beck@ohio.edu by Monday, April 12. Additionally, if you have any questions about the CSCA Oral History Project, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail, and I will do my best to clarify details for you.
Thank you very much for considering this opportunity! I truly look forward to visiting with you at CSCA!
