Adjunct/ Temporary Faculty Caucus
Call for Papers and Panels
Central States Communication Association (CSCA)
Annual Convention-St. Louis, MO
March 29-April 2, 2023
“Intersections, Transitions, and Silenced Voices”
The Adjunct/ Temporary Faculty Caucus of Central States Communication Association invites the submission of papers, panels, roundtable discussions, and innovative programming for the 2023 CSCA convention in St. Louis, Missouri. The purpose of the Adjunct/ Temporary Faculty Caucus is to discuss and support the issues that are specific to adjunct and temporary faculty in the academic world (K-12, community colleges, public and private universities, etc.). Our caucus seeks to provide adjunct/ temporary faculty (including “visiting faculty”) with support, guidance, networking, and training.
A range of topics are welcome for submissions for this convention. This includes different professional development models & opportunities, employment alternatives (non-academic jobs, “alt-ac” careers, and “side hustles”), transitioning to/from campus, teaching and working remotely, building community/re-connecting, teaching as an intersectional part of identity, life in the discipline/retirement, visiting faculty as temporary/non-renewable faculty, and temporary/adjunct faculty being the majority of those in the field. We will award $100.00 for a “Top Panel” submission that focuses on topics and issues related to Adjunct and Temporary Faculty at the convention.
Faculty, students, independent scholars, and community members are encouraged to submit and attend the CSCA convention in St. Louis and we encourage submissions that address issues related to the conference theme of “Intersections, Transitions, and Silenced Voices”. Submissions inclusive of all methodological perspectives in the communication discipline are expected and embraced, including ways of knowing coming from marginalized or disadvantaged populations. Submissions that foreground the voices of marginalized groups and underrepresented scholars are also especially welcomed. Regarding panels, preference will be given to those with panelists representing multiple institutions rather than representing a single institution.
All technology requests must be made at the time of submission.
Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM, CDT, October 7, 2022.
Send submissions electronically through our online system via the CSCA website.
*Please create a profile on the CSCA convention website (membership is not required to create a profile or enter a submission) to aid in successful submission and communication for each individual participating in the proposed conference item (i.e. interactive panel, roundtable discussion, innovative programming).
